About Us
Statement of Purpose
Hospitality House Youth Directions, Boys
and Girls Clubs, Inc., founded in 1960 and incorporated in 1963,
is committed to developing responsible career staff persons to
reach out to urban youth, ages 6-18, in their physical and
intellectual development, their social integration and their
spiritual birth and growth in Jesus Christ. The strategy is
four-fold:
|
 |
-
Go where the youth are...the schools, the parks, the streets...
-
Meet the real needs
of youth--a holistic ministry
-
Keep the programs Christ-centered
-
Raise up a new
generation of young people who will assume leadership roles in
our communities
Program leadership is
responsible to parents, school authorities, youth, churches, and
community organizations. Staff members are maturing,
compassionate adults with a consistent personal commitment to
Jesus Christ as evidenced by their life style which conforms to
Biblical disciplines. They serve as vital role models in a
world which so &ndesperately needs such living examples.
|
|
We believe that any
project or program is only as good as the staff person directing
it. Quality staff will develop quality programs and lasting
relationships with young people. Staff members are available
twenty-four hours a day to youth. The majority of staff live
in the neighborhoods they serve. There is a real concern for
"walking through life with youth." This means that
the goal is not building casual relationships , but on the
contrary, in-depth relationships which are long lasting.

Each staff person is responsible in presenting to the Program Director and staff
committee a designed program which will meet the individual needs
of youth in his/her program. Programs generally fall into
the following areas:
-
Educational
Programs
-
Vocational Programs
-
Athletic teams
-
Bible studies and
cell/discipleship groups
-
Camping and
retreats
-
Individual and
family counseling
-
Recreational
Programs
-
Special events
These programs provide a framework to address our long range objectives of training youth
in the Christian faith and encouraging their development as
responsible, contributing members of their families, schools,
churches, and communities. Hospitality House operates on a
holistic model, meeting the emotional, physical, intellectual, and
spiritual needs of all youth. However, participation or
attendance in Bible studies, discipleship groups, or other
religious-oriented programming is non-mandatory and is not a
requirement for participation in any of the other programs offered
by Hospitality House.
